Fortunately, despite some confusing press releases, we never actually
did "drop" active work on MIPS, and have in fact been steadily (albeit
more slowly than some might have liked) been releasing upgrades -- the
latest being the 500 MHz R14k. (Also see our paper on the planned R18k
at the upcoming "HotChips" symposium.) And, yes, they're real & shipping:
