Well, I compiled it, which made it go *much* faster[1], and even so
your "10 60 60" case did indeed run for a long time, but eventually
[in only the time it took me to read the rest of the thread] the
whole window turned black. So there.  ;-}


[1] Running CMUCL-19a in 32-bit mode on a 1.8 GHz Athlon64,
    under Linux 2.4.21-20.EL with XFree86 4.3.
