Merger Unites Two Leaders in Object-Oriented Programming Development Systems

Berkeley, CA (July 26, 1994) -- Franz Inc., a software development
company based in Berkeley, Calif., today announced it intends to
acquire the technology assets of Lucid, Inc. of Menlo Park, Calif.

Franz Inc. is the market leader in Common Lisp Object System (CLOS)
development tools.  Lucid, Inc. is a leading supplier of CLOS, C, and 
C++ development systems.  The two companies' products are used by software
developers to create commercial and technical applications.  

Under the terms of the agreement, Franz will distribute Lucid C, Lucid C++,
Energize, Lucid Common Lisp and related software development tools.
