If anyone is interested, I have a Symbolics MacIvory Model II that is not
being used. Installed in a Quadra 700 with a 16" monitor. My other MacIvory
is a Model III installed as well on a Quadra 700. They both have
registered(?) Genera 8.3
Although I use both ACL for Windows and MCL on a PowerMac G3, the allure of
the Symbolics is quite powerful. I still do some modeling and simulation
work as well as use an old copy of Macsyma on the MacIvory. I also have all
the S-Geometry products as well as some analysis products I have written on
this machine. It works well on the network, which aides in the porting of
several launch systems programs to the Windose and Macintosh platforms, all
in Lisp of course.

Ah a Symbolics Lisp Machine, those were the days. A program
development environment that was years ahead of its time. I still
believe in many ways it is superior to what exists today.
I have not used a Symbolics in perhaps ten years, at least eight. I
did not think any still existed. Has there been any development work
on Symbolics in the last ten years? It is hard to believe that a
Symbolics (even if there has been some development in the last 10
years) would "blow away" Lisp on any modern workstation. I would be
surprised if it could "blow away" Lisp on this HP-UX box which was a
fairly fast box 3-4 years ago.
