  Get rid of the Scheme baggage.  Common Lisp has powerful iteration
  constructions and has no particular need to prove that recursion is a
  good idea.  It _is_ a good idea at times, but a good programmer knows
  when it is not.  Using one's favorite technique (or, say, conditional)
  for everything is the hallmark of a bad programmer.  Common Lisp is the
  one language that best allows form to follow function, if you pardon the
  intended puns.
