Dynamic Objects Conference Track at Object World Expo/Tokyo'96 Japan
******************************************************
For the first time, the Object World Japan conference in Tokyo will
feature "Dynamic Objects technology" as a separate conference track,
taking place Oct. 4, 1996 (details below).
Dynamic Objects technology refers to object-oriented programming with
dynamic languages such as Smalltalk, Java and CLOS. Dynamic Objects add
tremendous flexibility to software deployment and evolution, ranging
from configurable distributed applications based on Java and the World
Wide Web, to user-extensible frameworks applicable in such diverse
business areas as CAD, telephony services, multimedia servers and
workflow automation tools.
Three highly-acclaimed speakers will be presenting various topics
related to dynamic object-oriented technology at Object World Japan:
- Gregor Kizcales of Xerox PARC, a chief designer of the Meta-Object
Protocol and CLOS, will speak on the trade-off between dynamic and
static languages. Dr. Kizcales will show how developers can choose
dynamic or flexible languages without having to compromise on
efficiency.
- Richard Gabriel, also a chief designer of CLOS and joint at Computer
Science (Stanford) and Parcplace Systems, will discuss Dynamic Object
languages and their acceptance in the commercial and technical worlds.
He will present several models of technology acceptance and explore how
CLOS,Smalltalk, C++, and Java fit into those models.
- Jim Veitch, VP of Technology at Franz Inc. will speak on the growing
importance of Dynamic Objects technology. Dr.Veitch will also present
several real-world examples of the use of Dynamic Objects in commercial
practice, ranging from CAD to Workflow, WWW to Telephony Switching.
